Wildfire treatment planning for vacation rentals

Coordinate a treatment project with your property manager, guest bookings and grounds team without leaving important details between handoffs.

Make the owner’s priorities clear

A rental manager may handle daily operations while the owner decides on property improvements. Begin by identifying the areas the owner wants reviewed and the person authorized to approve work. WTG’s proposed service concerns suitable vegetation and fuels, with a defined scope and price. A guest booking calendar is useful context, but it does not replace an owner-approved application plan.

Allow for more than a turnover window

Cleaning, maintenance and guest arrivals may already compete for the same time. Discuss the application requirements with WTG before promising that the work will fit between bookings. Weather, site conditions and preparation can affect timing. Identify who will communicate a change and what happens if access or occupancy differs from the original plan.

Include outdoor amenities in the review

Show patios, play spaces, pet areas, gardens, pools or water features that sit near proposed vegetation. These features help define exclusions and site-use arrangements; they are not automatically application targets. Product-specific directions should guide use of affected areas. Avoid giving guests a generic reentry time before the actual project instructions are confirmed.

Coordinate the grounds team

Ask the manager about upcoming mowing, pruning, irrigation changes or contractor visits. Work that changes the vegetation can affect the final scope or prompt a later review. Give the people maintaining the grounds access to the relevant completion information, so they know which areas were included and who to contact with questions.

Describe the service accurately to guests

A treatment record documents property work. It should not be described as proof that the rental is fireproof, guaranteed safe or exempt from evacuation instructions. Keep guest emergency information tied to official local guidance. WTG can help the owner understand the application scope, while the manager remains responsible for communicating operational arrangements and maintaining the property’s guest information.
