When Your Treatment Budget and Proposed Scope Do Not Match

Discuss alternatives without silently reducing preparation, documentation or suitability review.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Explain the constraint directly

Tell the provider the decision you need to make about budget. Ask which parts of the proposed work drive the total and whether a smaller defined scope can be reviewed. Do not ask a crew to reduce application requirements or skip necessary preparation just to fit a number.

Compare actual alternatives

An alternative should identify different areas, timing or responsibilities clearly. Ask what remains untreated and what other work still belongs in the property plan. Avoid treating a smaller application footprint as equivalent coverage at a reduced price. Any technical prioritization should come from the appropriate site review.

Approve a coherent project

WTG can discuss a property-specific proposal without promising every budget can support a suitable project. If you choose an alternative, keep its map and exclusions together. A clear smaller project is easier to understand and maintain than an undocumented compromise that leaves the owner and applicator with different expectations.
