Keep the state and community clear

The Northern Rockies includes a wide range of properties and landscapes. The Elk Fire in Sheridan County, Wyoming, in 2024 and the Robertson Draw Fire near Red Lodge and Belfry, Montana, in 2021 are separate examples. Their names and locations matter when using regional history to discuss a specific property.

Wyoming: the Elk Fire in 2024

An October 5, 2024, Wyoming Game and Fish Department notice documented the Elk Fire’s effects on habitat and access in Sheridan County. The notice addressed the practical disruption to land use as well as the fire itself. It is a historical account; current access conditions must come from current agency and local notices.

Montana: Robertson Draw in 2021

Montana’s Governor’s Office reported that Robertson Draw began on June 13, 2021, and threatened Red Lodge, Belfry and surrounding areas. Its June 17 account described evacuation orders, warnings and closures then in place. These details give a place and time to the history without treating the whole state as one uniform fire environment.

Plan around both the residence and working land

For a ranch or large acreage property, describe where people live, where animals are kept and how crews normally reach the areas being considered. Identify water features, conservation work and any boundaries shared with public land. These details help separate suitable application locations from areas needing a different management approach.

Request a defined review

WTG can discuss planned ground pretreatment for suitable vegetation, with preparation and exclusions made clear in a proposal. Include the address and current photos rather than assuming proximity to a past fire establishes treatment need. History supports awareness; it does not prove product performance, guarantee access or determine what should be applied on your land.
