Inventory the openings
CSFS includes vent screening in its home-preparation guidance. Start your contractor discussion with an inventory of attic, roof, crawlspace and foundation openings. Note where you cannot inspect safely. Ask the contractor to explain which openings need attention and what documentation supports the proposed replacement or repair.
Request a building-specific recommendation
Avoid ordering a vent solely because a listing uses wildfire language. Ask how the proposed product fits the existing opening, ventilation needs and applicable local requirements. Keep installation details, model information and any warranty together. If another contractor later changes siding or roofing, provide that record so the vent work can be reviewed as part of the change.
Keep scopes understandable
WTG reviews suitable vegetation and ground fuels. That review does not certify vents or include installing them. If a building inspection identifies both vent work and nearby vegetation concerns, share the relevant findings during your treatment inquiry. Ask each provider to name the work they will perform and the issues that remain assigned to someone else.
