Identify the actual product
A search for fire-retardant mulch can lead to a material, an additive or an application service. Ask the supplier which one is being offered. Request the product name, intended use and supporting documentation. A general advertising phrase does not tell you whether a particular landscaped area should receive that material or a spray.
Review the landscape decision first
NFPA recommends noncombustible ground cover close to the home instead of flammable mulch. Discuss the layout with an appropriate local professional before choosing a treatment for an existing bed. Bring photos showing the bed in relation to walls, decks, plants and irrigation rather than an isolated close-up of the mulch.
Discuss application separately
Tell WTG what material is present and whether it will be replaced. Suitability must be reviewed for the actual product and site; do not assume every mulch can be treated or that treatment makes a material noncombustible. If a landscape change is the agreed first step, update the map after that work and then discuss any remaining suitable vegetation.
