Long-Term Rental Homes: Owner and Tenant Coordination for Treatment

Clarify project approval, access and communication when the owner is not the occupant.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Name the authorized property contact

Identify who owns or manages the property and who can approve work. Ask the responsible manager to handle any required tenant notices or permissions. A tenant providing photographs does not necessarily have authority to commission changes, and an owner’s approval does not resolve every access arrangement.

Include the occupant’s practical information

Ask about pets, garden use, outdoor storage and normal access needs relevant to the review. Provide this information without circulating unnecessary personal details. The applicator needs current site conditions, while legal or tenancy questions belong with the owner’s appropriate advisers.

Keep instructions tied to the approved work

For WTG, agree on vegetation boundaries, exclusions and site-specific access instructions before scheduling. Identify who will communicate changes to occupants. Store the completion record with property-management documents and provide the relevant handoff when tenants or managers change. A vegetation application is separate from emergency planning and building maintenance.
