Wildfire Treatment Planning Around Animal Shelters

Bring animal-care operations and outdoor-use areas into a careful site-specific review.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Identify how animals use the property

Mark kennels, runs, exercise areas, feed storage and vegetation outside occupied spaces. Explain which areas are used continuously and which can be managed differently. Do not assume a general product statement establishes suitability for every animal-use setting.

Use the relevant instructions

Ask the applicator to review the proposed product and scope against the actual site use, with appropriate specialist input where needed. Request explicit exclusions and applicable access or handling instructions. The shelter’s responsible team should determine how those instructions fit its operations; this page does not provide a universal reentry time.

Document the approved arrangement

WTG’s inquiry process should identify suitable vegetation work separately from animal-care or emergency plans. Name the site contact who can resolve access questions and report changes before application. Keep the final map available to future staff, especially if runs or exercise areas are relocated after the project.
